How do you set different text messaging tones for contacts? [Samsung Galaxy S8+]

I've read what people say to do which is what I did the other day but it's not working. I assigned a tone to a couple of my contacts so that I know who the text is coming from but it's defaulting to the "all other" text notification tone. My sister has the S5 and she can do it on hers but I can't figure out why it's not working on my S8+ .... anyone?????

Welcome to the forums. In the Verizon user manual I only see the option to set for messages, not for specific contacts. You may have to go to a third party app. I'll move your question to the S8 forum, that may help with more answers.

You can assign specific notification tones to ppl in their contact page, edit, down near the bottom.
