how do you turn an LG G2 into. basic phone wigh text?

So we thought my aging father in law could use a smart phone...he has tried to get used to it for 7 months and can't catch on and wants to go back to a basic phone...

Question for the gurus...can this phone be modded to make it basically act like a regular cell phone with texting capabilities?

Any way to hide access to all the other features that confuse him?

The biggest problem with using this phone as a regular phone is the the cost of data on any of the major carriers - it is extremely expensive. What carrier are you using - there are lots of new, cheap, off contract dumb phones to be had (does his old phone still work - why not give it back to him). If you do decide to go down this root then make sure mobile data is turned off, remove almost all of the apps except phone, contacts, messaging app, and maybe a weather widget (that only updates on WiFi), remove all of the screens from the launcher except a home screen (The G2 has a simple mode from LG), and you might be able to use it as dumb phone. Also, if it's a GSM model you could probably activate it on one of the MVNOs with an absolute minimum of data (250 MB - 500 MB).
