Android Central Question

I just got a Motorola phone today. And I'm trying to install an app by searching it up, but that GOOGLE VOICE TYPING keeps showing up, telling me to touch to speak. It's incredibly ANNOYING and I can't find a way to turn it off. I tried to look it up, but the internet is useless. I've tried everything to turn it off, but it seems like there's no way, I've just completely given up. Can someone tell me in a DETAILED explanation how to turn off google voice and get a regular keyboard on a MOTOROLA PHONE?! Thank you! (I have a "moto e5 XT1920DL" updated to android 8.1.0)

Ok what you're talking about sounds like GBoard. It's part of the Google keyboard. Google Voice is an app and optional service that turns your voicemail into text, like visual voicemail, and has some other really useful features.

Meanwhile to turn it off, so to speak, open a text field, someplace you enter text, an SMS app, Google Play or whatever. Touch the text field and when the voice prompt opens, pull down your notification bar and look for the keyboard icon. Touch that and pick something else. When you return to the text field and touch it to begin typing you should have a keyboard or wherever you chose.
