How do you turn off OK Google now?

I thought going into setting, language and input, voice search, OK google hot directive and turning that setting off will stop it from listening? But its still on, does anyone know how to turn this off?

Go into the settings menu from Google Now itself....you have the option to turn off Google Now entirely or there's a voice tab where you can turn off the hotword detection.

This is very dumb but if you go to the Play Store and install Google Now then it will turn off. Absolutely ridiculous if you ask me but I am happy because it is off now.
