How do you update apps to the SD card on Android Kitkat?

I am running Android Kitkat, and i have no more space in the internal storage. I have an SD card full with space, which also has apps. Whenever I try to update the apps on the SD card, it updates to the internal storage, which I don't have space in, which means i can't update my phone. Please help! I have a Blu Studio G.

As far as I'm aware, the only way to do this is to root, install Link2SD from the Play Store, and in the Link2SD settings, set the default install location to SD card.
