How Does It Hold Up?

I currently have a gen1 Nvidia Shield tablet, and I am getting tired of the lag and performance issues that have plagued this device since day 1. I'm also looking to upgrade to a larger device. How does this tablet fair these days? I'm more interested in this one than the S2 because I don't think I want a device with 4:3 aspect ratio, as my understanding is that introduces black bars for landscape video viewing.

Can anyone that still uses this chime in on how this device holds up in 2016 with marshmallow?

Mine is a wifi version, bought new in 2014. Transition to 6.0.1 was seamless. Device suffers no lag or degraded performance issues. After 23 months the battery is not as good as when new, but still provides adequate use, every day.

I've had mine for two years, works great with Marshmallow. I don't notice any lag problems, but I'm probably not as attentive to that as some folks. The matching bluetooth keyboard is great as a cover and as a keyboard. Gorgeous screen. I'm still happy I bought it.

I just got a lightly used one for $200, and it does seem, to have aged very well. I just think it's sad that there's no newer alternative with this level of quality. The only thing I can think of is the Xperia Z4 tablet, but that is super spendy and doesn't have an Amoled screen.

Mine's still great with excellent battery life, running well on Marshmallow. For me, it's a lot better than the newer S2s.

I've had mine for a couple of years now and it is updated to MM and runs very nicely.
