How does the update go?

I have a completely stock Rezound. I got a small update a few hours ago from VZ, it said it would "prepare" my phone for the main ICS update. The small update completed.

Now, when I try "settings-software update-check new", there is no reaction at all, where I used to get a dialog saying "checking", then another saying "no new software".

I assume that the main ICS update is supposed to download next, has anyone completed the update and if so how long did you have to wait between the small and main updates? Is there something I need to do to complete the process? Also, how can I check that I have the complete update?

Thanks for any info!

Are you up and running yet?

For mine it had the small update. Then nothing. I turned the phone on and off, checked again...this time the prompt came up for the small update again. This time the phone turned off and restarted (along with the screen showing updating).

Then I checked and it showed the full update, which downloaded. Then nothing (not even a restart). Checking info it says it had the update successful. A few minutes later the update prompt showed up, the phone restarted, and then it had the Verizon update screen installing the full update.

After this my phone reset a couple of times, optimized the apps, and then was ready to go.

It is like they split up the download and then install into two separate parts. Before this my device Status was blank and my phone would restart when trying to update Verizon Navigator.

My update went pretty smooth and took less than an hour from start to finish. First the small update came and then the larger one showed right up. Have you restarted your phone? If not restart it and then go back and check for the update.

I had to do the turn off/turn on the phone a couple of times to get both updates. I also wound up restarting a couple of times after the final ICS install. After each restart it would say something like optimizing apps for update and count through some number. The first time it was all of my apps, the next two had fewer and fewer number of apps. Weirdest update I ever went through. There are a few things still buggy (different) buy it seems to be working.

I started this process at about noon yesterday, and this morning at about 7:30 the second update started to download. It is underway now and hopefully will complete without further drama.

I had tried powering off and on as well as a battery pull last evening, but neither had any effect. This morning I tried a "restart" from the power down menu, which I had never used before. It warned me that it would delete cached data, then proceeded to restart the phone. About 5 minutes after the restart completed the notice appeared for the second update.

Thanks to all who responded! Hopefully this stupid thing will be worth the wait... :-)
