AC Question

I've had my eye on the Honor 8 but curious, how fast and reliable is the fingerprint sensor on it?

It's pretty darn good. It's fast.

At the moment I have only 'trained' it to read my index finger, it's really the only one I'll need to do so (it falls perfectly on the reader when holding the phone).

You can pick the phone out of your pocket and often already have the phone unlocked before you're even looking at it. The tactile feedback and location of the sensor makes it very easy.

And yeah... it's fast. Love it.

I would assume it would be equal to or better than my 5x, meaning very very good.I liked it better than my note 7 fps, in terms of accuracy

It is almost shockingly fast and reactive. If I am not mistaken the phone has a low power chip dedicated to things like the fingerprint sensor. My previous experience with the Galaxy S6 is night and day comparison, it would often fail. This phone has never failed.

I have both pointer fingers registered because I like to be able to unlock the phone regardless of how I pick it up. This is definitely one of the most accurate fingerprint sensors I have used. The fact that it is more of a button (think iPhone home button) than just a static sensor makes it easier for me.

I have never had an issue unlocking the phone, it pretty much opens it first try everytime.

I prefer the static sensor in the HTC 10 myself. To each his own of course.

Just in case you don't know... the fingerprint-reading on the Honor 8 doesn't require you to click/press-in the button. You can just rest your fingertip against the sensor and it reads it and unlocks your phone. You only have to click/press-in the sensor button when you want to activate one of the custom "smart key" functions.

So as far as just reading your fingertip/unlocking the phone, it operates the same as the fingerprint sensor on the HTC 10. :)

Crazy fast... Almost makes you wonder if it is working! I've been using an S7 the last few days and its night vs day! I'm going with the S7 but I really hate the FP sensor compared to the Honor! I'm going to sell my honor 8 but the fingerprint sensor is not the reason!

We appreciate the feedback on the Honor 8 device! The Honor 8 has a rapid, smart file-processing system for a smooth user experience. Thanks to the latest fingerprint technology, you can unlock your Honor 8 in only 0.4 seconds. The auto-learning skills of the fingerprint sensor improve the recognition of your fingerprint over time. Enjoy your new phone! (NS)
