Welcome to Android Central! ES File Explorer should have the proper SD permissions. Can you use it to create a new directory on the SD card?

If you are on KitKat then you will need to use the stock my files app to write to the sd card. Es won't do it. I believe that this is fixed in lollipop. This isn't a Galaxy problem, many Androids on KitKat have this issue m

I would love to know for sure if anyone who gets lollipop has this capability. I really miss being able to move things to my card.

Seems to me that the true problem is that it is more desirable that we use cloud services for transferring files instead of SD cards. Everything in the cloud can be read by Uncle Sam and stored in Utah.

Yes, I have done it repeatedly using ES File Explorer running on Lollipop. No problems.

You can transfer files from device to SD card using the my files folder, no need for an app.
