I had to walk away from the evo for a number of reasons but wanted it to work for me so badly. so now that 2.2 has been pushed, whats your feelings about the phone. What has improved, what hasn't. tempted to give it a second try.

I think it would be easier if you said what was bothering you about it the first time and people could let you know if those issues were fixed.

Personally, 2.2 didn't do much for me as an average user. However, I was never dissatisfied with my phone to being with.

really for me it was all about battery life. Most everything I could live with.

the other challenge which has nothing to do with 2.2 is that I do not yet have 4G in Orlando.

Well I'll have to let other people talk about battery life. My battery tends to last me anywhere from 1-3 days depending on how heavy I use it. However, I'm rarely very heavy on my phone, and generally in good signal areas.

So I didn't notice any huge increase in battery life with 2.2. Other heavy users might feel differently.

For me personally, the battery life has gotten better after Froyo. Before the update my battery would drain quickly while at work. This was after taking it off the charger that morning. I don't use my phone at work much so I got annoyed about it a few times but now my battery lasts about 15 hours. I use my phone a lot after work.

The phone overall is much faster. Smoother scrolling (both in the app drawer and between home screens), and apps open much more quickly. Standby battery life is much, much better. But if I use the phone a lot, it still dies as fast as it did before (for me, using it a lot means hundreds of texts, a couple hours of web browsing, a few games, and I have two email accounts that sync every hour, and then five gmail accounts (push), and one activesync account (also push)), which is about 10-12 hours of 'heavy' usage for me.

Battery life for me is related to whether I have a 3G connection. 3G=all day long, noG=dead battery real soon. I really gained nothing with the upgrade to 2.2.

The phone did get faster with the update. And there are some cool additions to the feature set. Bluetooth calling is big along with full flash support. Managing your applications is definitely faster and more intuitive. I haven't noticed a difference in battery life. I have noticed a few glitches with the calendar and some hiccups when typing (lag, weird white and black blocks when typing in a text field within some web pages).
