How is Google using our anonymized location data? Here's a fantastic use

I cannot myself see any good reason for not relaxing the privacy rules at the present time, which would surely make the tool even more valuable, but some people would turn purple and explode at the mere suggestion of it.

I would. When you relinquish a freedom to the government you never get it back. It's like giving your 300 pound cousin a chocolate bar for emergencies.

I think it was in the U.K. where the police were using drones to spot people, gasp, walking their dog.

The government values none of your freedoms and see them as interference.

In the interest of full disclosure I should mention I have lived through so many apocalyptical events, existential crisis, and unimaginable disasters that I've become a bit cynical. My god, I lived through Y2K. Now, when Al Gore was put in charge that was terrifying. I'm sure people are getting sick, and always have been, but not anyone I know.

Keep in mind what Rep. Clyburn supposedly said about Covid-19 being an excellent chance to "restructure" government. I can guarantee, he wouldn't reconstruct it to benefit you and me.
