How is the Moto G LTE's responsiveness?

I have a 2012 Nexus 7 tablet which has similar specs to the Moto G, but in the last few months it has become increasingly slow to react to user commands, and apps have been crashing more and more frequently.

Does the Moto G LTE 2013 perform well still?

I am thinking about upgrading from my Droid 2 (the risk is switching from Verizon to a GSM carrier), but I am worried that this phone might be slow, or might become slow as it becomes obsolescent and careless application developers foist updates upon us that are increasingly incompatible with older phones.

Well, I got to poke at a Moto G at the AT&T store today, and it wasn't nearly as pokey as my Nexus 7. I don't know what the deal is with the Nexus 7--either my device is bogged down with applications or my own poor decisions or the Nexus 7 is inherently slow--but the Moto G seemed to be better designed. I think I'll buy one. Thanks!
