How long does an item take to deliver with free shipping?

That depends entirely on where you live in corrilation with where the package is being shipped from, as well as the seller and time the order was placed. Most standard-rate shipping takes 3-5 business days. In short, there is no one answer for this. If the seller provided a tracking number, either USPS or UPS (for US only), then you can track the package. Just search package tracker on the web if you have one.

On top of that, some sites will do 2-day shipping free while others use Smart Post where the post office does the "last mile" part of the delivery.

For example, I bought something last Friday, it was shipped Monday with Smart Post shipping by UPS. I just checked the tracking number and see that it hit the last UPS scan prior to delivery if UPS was delivering it to me directly (so it would normally be delivered today) but instead it has to be handed to the post office to then deliver it so it won't arrive until tomorrow.
