how long to first charge new samsung table 10.5

just bought the samsung 10.5 table with battery life of 55%, should i recharge for 8 hrs as told by the salesperson. Or should I charge it below 20%

usually i discharge batteru for 0, and charge it all night. and repeat it 2-3 times. and repeat this once in 2-3 month
