How many Google Home Speakers should we have for 1 house?

What's the furthest distance that it can cover?
If the speaker is in the living room and I'm in the bathroom, do I have to shout?

Can it control the air conditioner?

Thanks.

1. Not sure on the distance between rooms in your house. I just got one for the living room and if it works out well I might grab one for downstairs or the bedroom.
2. Not sure on the distance on coverage by the microphone (will know on monday)
3. See # 2
4. I belive the Nest is the only theromstat that currently works with it. I cannot get the product page to load here at work, think the site is having issues or works firewall is blocking some of the pathways on the site

I have a very small house, the outside dimensions are about 24x32, and I can control my Echo from the living room when it's sitting in the kitchen... although I have to speak above normal for the Echo to hear me and frequently I have to repeat myself... that's mainly because it down a little hallway and around a corner... so considering it does a very good job at hearing me. I hoping the Home will hear me as well or better than the Echo.

In the future I plan on having a Home in all main rooms of my home... kitchen, living room, family room, and probably my bedroom. I might also put one in the bathroom... I kinda like the idea of being able to play music or getting my daily briefing while I'm in the bathroom.

If you are talking about central air you'll need to have a smart thermostat... nest is currently the only thermostat support by Home. If you are talking about a window air conditioner... if it has a remote, you could use a network IR device to control your air conditioner... although Home is probably not going to have support for any network IR devices out of the gate.

I have been shockingly surprised. I have a small 3-bedroom condo (just under 1,100 square feet). I put the Google Home in my kitchen on the counter that juts out a little bit into the dining area (not quite a seating counter but great place to drop keys, purse etc.). GH can hear me from everywhere. I can command it from my office which is probably the furthest away... Even when sitting at my computer facing away from the speaker. I can command it while lying in bed but I can't hear its responses too well. Which is fine because I'm usually just turning off lights. I am concerned, however that I can probably initiate it from OUTSIDE my condo entry door. It's closer to that door than my office and it's not a soundproof door. I wouldn't care if I could set it up to only recognize my voice (like on my phone). I'm in a secure building so am not overly concerned but they definitely need to do something w voice recognition. Voice recognition might also be a good way for multi user households to be able to transition from one account to another. Guest mode could be used for when you want someone else to be able to play with it.

ETA I do have to raise my voice but I don't have to yell.
