How much online storage do you get when you start using your Nexus? Do you get any free storage from Google.

I think you get 15Gb with each Google account. High quality photos videos up to 1080P, and files made with Google Docs do not count towards this limit.

Yes, image won't count towards your drive limit if u upload using high quality settings
