How often do you restart your phone?

Appart from restarts after the monthly security patches, do you restart your phone regularly, i.e. every few days, once per week?

I was reflecting on my days of yore with Blackberry, when you had to pull the battery every few days for it to function correctly.

Thankfully, with today's phones, that's no longer an issue and I very rarely have to restart only when the monthly patch arrives.

Just curious.

I restart my phone every day, but I'm always messing with/ tweaking it as it's rooted. But I believe it's a good thing to restart at least every few days. It just refreshes everything for phone to run smoothly

Well, EH, I’ll usually reboot my phone every few days or so. Depending on the situation and the circumstances for example if I’m testing out an app on my phone, and I’ll be more inclined to reboot my phone more often than not during the week.

Great thread - thank you for posting!.

I'd say I restart maybe once every five to six weeks, when I get my software updates. But I will sometimes restart a bit more often than that if I encounter a glitch of some kind or if I need to turn my phone off for some odd reason.

I miss those battery-pulling days!

I only restart if my phone is acting odd, which is pretty rare. But since it's a Pixel 3 XL, it'll restart at least monthly due to the security patches (and probably twice a month if you include the Google Play system updates, which are separate from the monthly security patches).

Yup yup, I definitely agree with you about that!

Pretty much exactly what I do with my Pixel 3 ...

Exactly the same for me but I really don't miss those battery pulls. I guess it's very nostalgic though. Got rid of my Curves but still have an old, working 9900, laying in a drawer.

Interesting to see some people specialy rebooting phone. For me I don’t reboot phone so often. Last time I think, I rebooted phone two months ago. I dunno why it didn’t locate my location for Navigation app.

I do this as well on my Samsungs.

Except for the Google Play system updates, because, to be honest, I don't know when those happen.

Yeah, the schedule for those updates seems to be much less defined, and it also seems to vary more widely between devices (even Pixel devices). My 3 XL sometimes gets it later than even my Lenovo Tab M8 FHD.

I still have a working 9900 also. Years back, it slipped off my lap while I was getting out of my car at home. Spent two days on the lawn in the sun & the watering system kicked on three times. I hadn't noticed it was missing as I was working on a deadline for my job. Found it when I was leaving for work Monday morning. Power was still on. It was soaked & the screen was foggy. Pulled the battery & threw it in rice for three days. Replaced the battery & all was fine. It never missed a beat. Tough little phone.
:D

My current phone is scheduled to Auto Restart at 3am every Wednesday.

Usually when things start acting up due to the occasional background app glitch or the RAM just getting cluttered (I have a measly 4GB). Also if the alarm clock mysteriously quits going off.

You're right about it likely being nostalgia. It was just nice that that could magically fix everything. That's so awesome that you still have a functioning 9900! I have my BlackBerry Bold 9780 put away too!
