How to add words to LG keyboard

Sometimes when I type a word that isn't in the dictionary it will add it to my personal dictionary. Sometimes it won't. I haven't found a rhyme or reason. Anyone know how this works?

When typing a word the dictionary doesn't understand, the option should appear as one of the 3 options above the keyboard. Hit the one you want, and on the left the option should appear to 'tap to save'. Once you've done this, it should appear as an option next time and be in the dictionary.

As to why some do and some don't', it may be because you've inadvertently added some already, but not others, by coincidentally tapping the word on the left to 'tap to save' in the past.

I have tried adding "words" that I've never used before and I don't get the tap to save option

I figured it out. When I type a word that gets auto corrected I have to choose the option to the left. If the word doesn't get auto corrected and I choose the middle option I get tap to save.
