How to back up messages?

I was contemplating dropping a custom rom onto my phone, and wanted to make a backup of the collection of sms/text messages I have on the phone atm. I have Titanium and bootstrapper, so I have backups of the whole system(bootstrapper) and of all the individual files/data(Titanium).

I was wondering if there was a way to backup the sms/text messages to the computer in such a way that they would be readable on the pc? Also, would there be a way to transfer them from my stock rooted 2.3.340 system to the rom afterward?

try this Backup to Gmail - Android app on AppBrain

i dont know about putting them on a computer but if you want to just back them up i use "mybackup pro" from the market and i thought titanium backup could do it too.

'K, tried a few ways to do this, sms backup+, Backup to Gmail and SMS Backup & Restore

The issue I am having is that the sms messages are not saved in order, sent messages are out of sync with the received ones in all three apps. :(

I have timezones setup correctly, and am confused as to why they are saving this way?!?

Any ideas?
