Android Central Question

Hello, is there a way to block an app or "hide" it from your Google Play Store?
I am not referring to the parental control option. It should be a solution that you need to reset your phone in order to remove this type of lock and not with something you can easy change.

I have seen some apps like AppLock but I am not sure what happens when you delete that app? Also I assume you need to have the unwanted app on your phone for that other app to block its usage?

Thank you for assisting

Welcome to Android Central! So you want something that will prevent the phone from seeing an app in the Play Store or letting that app run on the phone if it's installed? Is this for someone else's phone, or is this for your phone?

it sounds like you want to stop an app from displaying in a Play Store search. Beside parental controls I don't see how this would be accomplished. Even if the app were installed and disabled on the device it would still appear in a search provided the app is on the Play Store. I can only think of one way that this would be possible and that would be if the app wasn't compatible with the device from which the search was made. I believe the Play Store still excludes incompatible apps. They will show in the search terms but will not display in the results of devices they are not compatible with. So say there's an app called Wall Flower. If the PS is opened and wall is typed in the search field Wall Flower may appear as one of the autofill results but when tapped results for apps with wall or flower in the name will be displayed but not Wall Flower because it isn't compatible with that device.

In the meantime best wishes and I hope they don't download the app and find your profile. Even if you could hide it one of their friends probably has it or would get it just to help them out.
