How To Block Text Messages?

Can't seem to block a specific text source on my TMO S10 running Android 12, One UI version 4.0.

This specific instance is a group text that is an obvious scam and contains a link to a free prize.

I tried everything and can't find any way to block.

Please help!

Is it being sent by a phone number or an email address? Which text messaging app are you using?

I'm using the standard message app that came on my S10. The latest Android update did away with the option to block a text message.

I deleted the message but I'm sure there will be more messages as this started yesterday. I'm not sure how to see where the message came from. Wish I had taken a screen shot for you to see.

Any ideas?

You should be able to see who sent the message, whether it's a phone number or an email address. The next time you get a message like this, show us a screenshot.

Still don't understand where the "block text" option in the menu disappeared to.

Android 12 didn't change how I block messages on my Note 20U, it's been the same since I got the phone.

Sharing how you block messages on Android 12 might be helpful even though you don't have a S10 with T-mobile...

Fair point, technically blocking the number not just text but I just tap the number above the text message and tap block number.

My Husband & I started receiving the group spam texts involving 19 to 20 phone numbers each text yesterday. (T-Mobile)

I don't know any way to block them but I do forward the texts to T-Mobile's Report Spam number 7726. This has been successful for me in the past. The texts have stopped. But, of course, no guarantee.

Sounds exactly like what happened to me. I'll follow your lead and forward the next spam text to T-mobile. Thanks for the reminder.

I forwarded 5 of these mass group spam texts in two days to T-Mobile. Haven't received another in the last 25 hours. Fingers crossed...
