Android Central Question

Galaxy S8, Android v9: have received several TEXTS from various email addys, with no way to block.
I did try to (unsuccessfully) block through: messages > settings > block numbers and messages > block numbers > contacts, received error msg "not a valid number".

Never heard of texts from email addresses. They are two different communications protocols. Perhaps this is a good indicator they are spam. Shame you can't block them.

Welcome to Android Central! Check with your carrier if they can turn off the ability for people to send a text to your number via email. For example, on T-Mobile, everyone has an associated email address [phone number]@tmomail.net. It can be turned off as described here: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/plans-features/message-blocking

The way that worked for me using the Textra app for SMS:
- add the email addresses to a contact in your Contacts app
I added them all to the contact "z SMS spam"
- in the SMS app, add the contact to the "blocked" list.
