has anyone been able to cancel the order from Motorola? I decided I want to order from best buy and changed my mind on design from motomaker? I called but they told they are unable to cancel. It was later in the day and was speaking one of those third world Service representative.

Nope you need to wait for the phone to deliver and then you can initiate an online return, they will email you pre paid FedEx label and you need to ship back. They will refund within 14 days after they receive the device.

You can only cancel the order within couple of hours of placing it.

I know worst ordering system ever, hope they update their ordering process... It's crap!!!

I also tried to cancel and buy from Amazon or Best Buy but they told me the same thing. My ship date is 10/2 but they can't cancel the order now???? Makes no sense

I'll add this to the FAQ sticky but that's the same policy they had previously as well.

Pretty sure it says before you place your order that because of the custom nature you order can't be canceled.

I understand but they have to pay to ship it to me,pay to ship it back to them and if I open it it will no longer be considered new. Seems like a waste of money but okay Motorola.

Yep custom order or not, will save them money if they let people cancel the order. Also in your case with the ship date being 10/2 they are not even started building the order. Either way it's way cheaper for them to let us cancel the order anytime before the order is shipped. That's how most good ordering system works, and yeah it's been like this from the time they started Moto maker. So they had plenty of time to revise it but they probably don't care.

Yep! I remember last year when the same "crap" was happening to folks with Moto Maker and the MotoX 2014 phones, same story, different year. Pretty sad indeed they have not progressed.

I also wanted order one from amazon but I can't cancel it.

I know when I made mine, I got an email that said I only had an hour to make changes or cancel.

They're probably hoping that once you get it in your hands, after anxiously waiting several days, or weeks to get it, that you will fall in love and reconsider keeping it so as not to go through the hassle of sending it back and WAITING EVEN LONGER to get another one!

I highly doubt that they are actually "losing" money with this policy! :-$

We just don't have all the facts on "why" they are choosing to not allow a cancelation later in the process.

They will still make the phone and ship it to you with the hopes that when receive the phone you will like it and not have to return it. In my opinion, it's not a very smart business plan. Plus they waste the customer's time because they will hold your money until you receive the phone, then return it back to them (which may take up to two weeks) before you get a refund. It's strange how they claim to be champion with Lean & Six Sigma and can't apply these same philosophies/methodologies to their logistics, sales, and marketing departments.
