I am leaving on a trip where there will be 220 volt 50 cycle electricity. Can I use the typical travel converters to get the 110 volts I need.
The package says that it should not be used with battery rechargers.

I don't want to fry my new Rezound.

Thanks

You could try charging via USB, but it takes longer than charge time on the standard 120V outlet. If I plug my phone into USB when it's near dead my Battery Left widget predicts a 6+ hour charge time via the 5V USB port.

The stock charger should do 110/220v, it will automatically switch voltage. You can look at the charger to confirm the rating. Other than that, just be sure to get the right plug adapter for the country that you are going to.

Thanks for the help.

I checked the plug which indicates that it will work with both voltages. We do have the right adapters.

I think we are set.

Just be sure to use clean power. Using a place with dirty power can kill the phone. If you are going to an area of dirty power, then you might consider a good surge protector at 220 or perhaps get a rechargeable battery pack or external charger, which, although sort of inconvenient, can save the phone in case of a power spike.

I would not do it. Mainly because the package says not to. There are certain devices that cannot tolerate other than 60 cyles, regardless of the volatage. Microwaves are another such device. It will ruin them in short order. And I mean quick!

I might recommend one of those cheap external chargers sold on eBay. At least you'll be able to test first, before ruining your Rezound's charging circuits.

If you plan to use your rezound as your primary phone abroad , make sure that Verizon has coverage where you are going and look at the voice and data charges are, they can be way higher than in the states.

I am pretty sure that the rezound charger is 50/60. It is the same charger as the thunderbolt. The cable is different though, the thunderbolt cable will charge the rezound, but not vice versa.

Having traveled with HTC and Samsung 120/60 & 220/50 dual rated chargers, I would say "it works." Though I carry a dual rated surge protector and plug adaptor with me.

Most "kit" is dual-power per the labels. Do use a surge protector! There's nothing like plugging in your new best gizmo abroad and getting a bright blue spark from the adaptor - with NO surge protection in place... I count myself lucky that I have never fried anything ... Thus far.

If you realize you can't use VZW where you're going, consider some unlocked phone, rental, purchase or loan, with a local SIM. I tried TMo on a recent trip and am still cleaning up from the total waste of money and time. Now I also have an AT&T phone, unlocked...

Why are you taking risk. You are not living on moon where you would not find another charger. Just go to the near by vendor and ask if he could do something. Even a good technician may convert that charger according to your needs.

the op won't need to find another charger, the one supplied is good for 110/220 50/60.
