How to check a messages original received time?

What I mean in received time is what time did I originally receive the message? I turned my phone off today (8:15PM) so it would charge faster and then accidentally fell asleep, woke up and turned it on only to get a message from a friend who I am 100% sure texted me way earlier. My phone stated it was received around the time I woke up. (1:08AM). I can swipe to the right on the message screen to view the time but it still will only tell you the time from when you turned on the phone. My old Samsung Intensity ll (Amazing btw) would save the time of when I originally received the message, store it and then show me the message when I turned on my phone with the original received time and the time of when I visibly saw the message myself. Is there any way to recreate that or enable that on my HTC One M8? Thanks for any answers. I really appreciate it! :)

The phone doesn't receive messages when it's off, at best the sending server keeps retrying until the phone is on, making the receive time the time you turned the phone on. You want the time sent - which isn't available in the headers. (This is a paging protocol, meant to send to always-on pagers, so times are unimportant - all times are "now".)
