How to clear phone Favorites

How can I clear the automatically generated favorites from phone screen?

Go to your Google contacts on line and remove them from "Starred in Android" group.

There are zero starred in android.
The are not even in google contacts.
They are from corporate exchange account.
Any other solution?

Long press brings up menu options - I always long press on screens I want to do something on, usually an option pops up

again, the long press does bring up a menu but short of deleting the entire contact that does not work.
I only want the phone to quit automatically creating favorites and be able to clear my favorites list from Phone -> Favorites.
Anyone using exchange contacts?

The stock contact app will place your recent most used contacts on the Starred list automatically and I do not believe there is a way to alter that behavior. It comes under the heading of Frequently contacted and always appears below your manually selected favorites contacts.

Those contacts will not be listed on your desktop gmail Starred on Android list and can not be removed from there AFAIK.
