how to create your own ringtone/notification tone and profiles?

hi all,

i had a blackberry bold and just got the droid razr maxx, one thing i noticed is that with a BB i was able to create custom "profiles" eg, i created one for work where my BBM, texts would vibrate with the light notification, my incoming email messages and facebook messages would not do anything but calls would actually ring.

can i do that on a droid? also, on BB i can easily go into my music files and select a song i like as my ringtone for calls, and also assign a song or music clip as my notification for something like texts. can i do that with the droid?

so far i love my droid but im still getting used to it.

Welcome to the android forums.

You can take any songs you want and turn them into ringtones. You can just select the song directly, but if you want to use a certian part of a song as a ringtone or notification tone you can always download an app called Ringdroid to breate a custom tone from a song. Heres the link to ringdroid.

As far as creating different profiles, alot of former blackberry users are recommending the Quick profiles application. Seems to be the closest thing to what a blackberry profile manager can do.
