I prefer 16:9 phones, I just wish it was OLED. But I watched a video of the Nokia 8 and it was amongst 5 phones, one other LCD and the rest OLED, it was sitting next to a galaxy S8, this is in pitch black, and I had no idea, I assumed it must have been what turned out to be a lesser brand.

So does the mate 10 turn out to be a GOOD LCD? Also the higher resolution and HDR means watching Netflix which is what I use it a lot for, will be sharper.

OLED has more vibrancy in most cases, but its usually not accurate, its saturation that makes them look so good.

Also Ive never owned a Huawei, what are they like for pushing out updates? My LG hasnt had an update since I owned it :-(.

Thanks all.

I have the mate 10 pro. The phone itself is very good. It is running oreo 8.0 I got it about 20th dec 2017 and other than the updates it did when i first setup the device I have had one security update so far. Updated to the android security patch jan 2018. They are apparently working on getting oreo 8.1 ready for it. As I have stated in other posts I do have a blue tooth issue. It will not connect to my car bluetooth(ford territory) but it seems more an android 8.0 issue but time will tell when they release that update.
As far as the phone goes. Its super fast. for what i do. photos, msging, I stream epl games sometimes via optus subscription. and cricket. I have used it on netflix and worked well. Screen quality is great. photos are awesome.
I dont miss the 3.5 jack as it comes with usb-3.5 adapter and with the battery life being so good i have not needed to charge it while using it.
I wont lie.. i am no expert in resolution or if lcd is better than oled..so i cant say which movie formats look good or not But I have not had any issues viewing anything. to me its a phone first entertainment second. so if i wanna watch anything with super high quality i sit in the lounge.
anyway hope that helps a little.

Just speaking about updates I have only had two Huawei honor phones. Huawei promised two years updates on the honor 5x at least quarterly. It probably got two updates total, is on marshmallow, and security patch is probably a year old.

My honor 8 was also promised two years updates and at least quarterly. It was released in August 2016 and is on Android version that was released in August 2016. Security update, mine is on October 2017 i believe
