How to delete gmail email address suggestion/autofill?????

Aloha, I'm using a Verizon Galaxy S8+ and the gmail app. I send notes to myself using gmail. I have my first initial as a contact so I just enter letter in the "to" box and my contact suggestion usually pops up and i select it, thus filling in the "to" box with my email address. I then type my note and send it to myself. I recently just added a contact for an airline mileage account (mileage number, login info, etc) and of course, my email address associated with the account. Now when I enter my initial for a note to myself, it shows the airline mileage account. I read and read numerous threads on how to delete and nothing has worked. I deleted the contact, cleared cache and data, deleted other contacts, checked "I'll add contacts myself", restarted my phone dozens of times, and tried to remove and re-install google account, but...I can't remove and install the google account because the only way I can do it is to do a factory reset, according to my phone. F*that. Please help, as I have not seen anything that has worked and absolutely nothing for a S8+. I hope I supplied enough information and thank you in advance for any assistance.

I had a similar experience with an iPhone 5S wayyyy back, I typed in a wrong email address and everyone I wanted to send an email the wrong email would always pop up

I was jailbroken at the time (really the only way I ever used iPhones) and the only way to delete that wrong email was to edit the strings of the email app itself... meaning open the app apart and look for the piece of the app that stores that info I didn't want and modify it (I am pretty sure I couldn't just delete it either so I changed it to a friend's email) after a reboot it worked

the point of my message is it's usually possible, just not easy... (and in my case you would have to be rooted)

Add a second letter to your contact name that's different than the second letter of the airline account. Type those two letters and you'll get your account. It's easier than deleting almost the entire airline name or fooling around until you get it autofilling your name again.

How do you delete that autofill list? I deleted the contact, cleared data, restarted, but it's still there? It has to be stored somewhere. I wonder why it's such a big secret?

auto fill for what keyboard? stock Samsung keyboard? However all of your issues since they're gmail and contacts (and thus Android and Google related) are pretty easy to fix up but annoying none the less if you're not on top of certain ideas. First.. autofill keyboards typically gather more than the information matching what a dictionary contains so of its a samsung stock keyboard or a Google keyboard realize both of these are gathering your contacts, email, peronsal info, etc and is stored in a corresponding account for either Samsung or Google (where Gmail accounts are listed) can be found. So under settings - - accounts - - You can find what information is being synchronized and stored in general with google and Gmail accounts and similarly with Samsung. In addition, as it's android its using Google and the needed Google apps such as assistant which basically is a mobile enhanced version of your Google (Gmail) account and it's information. It may be for many easier to handle gmail and Google settings which include many components including your contacts and autofill information through a desktop browser because it's easier to go through the amount of information which is overload for most. Lastly, likely you have those multiple accounts of Google gmail Samsung, whatever you show under accounts that may retrieve contact information and this may combine with what most people have on their accounts which is a carrier contact which usually also keeps a list and retrieves them from your accounts. This ends up with multiple accounts that ended up combining information retrieved from various sources and creating a contact list that could show the most ridiculous and incorrect information or duplicates. I manually go through accounts and see which ones have 'contacts' checked and showing synchronization. For autofill I control that with Googles primary website login and click settings and an option is presented to show what information is stored with them. This would likely help with some autofill issues as well as many other Google related controls you probably didn't know was being used. This is just an example of some steps to take I'd look into. I could write an e-book. You may want to check out the rather new app contacts from the play store too (made by google) if you haven't tried it.

Appreciate the reply and the time you took to type it. I really do. Maybe it's just over my head or I'm not deciphering the secret code, but I don't see anything that helps me solve my problem. I give up. Maybe I will do a factory reset.

I had the same problem, and I agree with joe weed - neuronton's answer does not help. We need a simple way of fixing it that works. I think I have a possible answer - tell me if it works for you (why can't GMail make this easier, huh?).

1. log in to your Gmail account via a browser (NOT the Gmail App). eg Google -> Sign In.
2. click on the "nine squares" icon -> more -> Contacts.
3. delete the invalid contact:
- search for the invalid autocomplete email address there (eg joe@wrongweed.com)
- highlight the icon (eg J) beside the email address
- click the triple dot pull down menu, and select delete
But that does not sync those contacts (on google's server(s)) with the contacts on your phone, so finally:

4. sync your Gmail data that is on google servers with that data that is on your phone:
- Settings -> Cloud and Accounts -> Accounts -> Google
- disable, then enable each toggle to sync the data: eg the "Sync Contact" toggle, or "Sync GMail".
- each time you do it, the message below will change to show the updated timestamp when it was last synced, so you can double check it did actually resync properly.

I don't know which one you need to do (I just tried all the ones that looked relevant), but eventually when you go back in to compose an email in the GMail app, you should find that the contact you removed is synced with your phone.

Note I tried other methods (such as tried to delete it via the Google Contacts app), and none worked.

Solved!!!!!!
Open mail.google.com from address bar,then make it desktop page( if you're open from mobile),then you'll find contacts list at left of page,(below TRASH,SPAM and others);open the list and you'll find all contacts,tick those you don't have to keep in your list,then delete it(you'll find DELETE bar on that page),then toodle-oo!
Go back in account from setting and delete and re-add your account (Gmail of course) on that device,and I hope you don't have to see those suggestions again (if you delete it from contacts list).
