Maybe it's just me, but I really don't like the whole Picasa thing...
If I decide to store pics on my phone, fine... but I don't want to see Picasa folders in my pics as well.
(even though I put nothing in those Picasa folders, they still show up)

- Is there a way to get rid of the whole Picasa thing on my phone?

Stop syncing with photos by going to settings > accounts > google and unchecking the photos option
Go to all application and find gallery, press clear data
Photos will reload into your gallery but picasa will be gone

Yeah. First go to settings>accounts>Google. Click on your email and then uncheck the "Google Photos" check box. You're telling your device to no longer sync with Picasa.

Once you have done this, it's time to remove the photos from your gallery. Go to settings>apps. From here, swipe left twice to get to the "all apps" tab. Find the Gallery app in the list, select it, and click on "clear data". And you're good to go :). This will not delete pictures you've taken that are stored on your phone. This will delete those which are not physically on your phone, but which show up through the gallery through Google photos sync.
