How to disable the media player from the lock screen?

I listen to music at work and when I put it in my pocket sometimes the headphone cord rubs the screen and messes with the player buttons, skips, pauses, fast forward..... Ect. Sometimes I'll push up against a desk and it'll hit my leg or desk one of the two and do the same, even when I go for runs (which was rare with the device considering its so bulky) Is there anyway to disable the music player from going to the lock screen? I've tried almost everything but rooting it which I tried to avoid. Even my husband who has his rooted has yet to get his to disable. It's a nuisance. I had an iPod which you could actually lock from anything being messed with while locked but it was stolen. Anyone know how to solve this issue? Samsung Galaxy S5 active.
