Recently I noticed that Android System shows a notification that Fitbit is using battery. Don't know if this appeared due to a recent Fitbit app update, or the Jan 5, 2018 patch update.

When I check the Fitbit app battery use details, it shows as 0% for the last 24 hours. So, not sure why I was notified.

Thus the following questions:

How do I turn off the persistent notification? I can't seem to swipe it away.

Also, how to configure the battery notification feature so that I am notified if the Fitbit app is using an unexpected or unrealistic amount?

If you swipe right on the notification there should be a set up icon, looks like a gear, select that and disable the persistent notification for Fitbit.

Must be a Fitbit update because the persistent system notification is a 'feature' of Oreo (all the way back to 8.0).
Apps that need to constantly have a running service will show that notification; if you turn that notification off then the app will probably fail to do whatever it's supposed to do.
Google discourages that implementation but oh well.

hold the notification down and you should be able to select which apps that Android can notify you of for what it deems worthy of warning you of battery usage

Thanks all. Guess that I have to disable the notification altogether, but there does not appear to be a way to disable the battery usage notification without disabling other Fitbit app notifications.

I disabled "All day sync" in the Fitbit app to see if that will make a difference. Had to restart the phone to get the persistent notification to go away - for now.

Well that was short lived, persistent notification came back after about a minute. I'm beginning to think that GSDer is on to something with it being a recent Fitbit update that's triggering the problem.

I just started to get the same issue. First, it started as a an update and I restarted my phone. The notification remained and said that my Fitbit last synced right there and if you click on the notification it says something about Oreo and you can click OK or the X button, but the notification is still there.

I'm having the same problem. It started two days ago. Fitibit shows in the upper left corner of my screen as a little heart rate line inside of a white box and there is a persistent notification that I cannot remove like I normally would by swiping.

Did you try holding the notification down instead?

The discussion below at the Fibit Community appears to be for the same problem, which appeared with Fitbit version 2.65.1.

The recommended fix is to turn of the notification altogether. While that will fix the "using battery" icon annoyance, in the event the Fitbit app is using more than expected, the user won't be notified.

As I understand it, this is not a Fitbit issue, but rather a system level "feature" introduced in Android 8.0. I like the feature, but wish there was a way to set a range for when usage is too high. Say if an app is running in the background, and uses more than x% battery compared to its prior % utilization history, then the "using battery" notification would be triggered.

I figured it out! In the Fitbit app, click the profile button (card icon) at the top, scroll all the way down in the settings to "keep-alive widget" and turn off. This turned my notification off. Hope this helps!

Swipe down to get the android system battery notification. Swipe this notification left. You will see a gear. Press it and click the button to turn off all apps that use that notification.
