I know all about the ways to stream to a Kindle Fire, but without rooting, what are the various ways one can actually download video content (movies, tv shows, etc.) onto the internal storage on the device?

In the case of video from DVD, I ripped dvd to MP4 format on a PC, then hooked the Fire to the PC with USB and copied the MP4 to a "Video" folder on the Fire. I use the ES File Explorer app on the Fire to open the Video folder, then select the video to play.

So if you have the desired video on a PC / Mac / linux box and can convert to MP4, then you'll have everything you need. I've not yet tried downloading directly to the Fire from the web.

Ditto joelitton! I did the exact same thing. One thing I am wondering how to do though is make the video show up in the Video's List on the Fire.

They don't show up in "Videos" on cloud and streaming show up in Videos.

Your personal videos show up in the Gallery.
