How to enable S view using the flip cover?

I bought the flip cover for my samsung galaxy S5 but when i close the phone with the cover.. the S view doesn't show up on my screen.. Help pls!

I've got the same problem when I stick my phone in my pocket. Nothing shows up on screen! It's very annoying.
