Hello,

Im trying to figure out how some of you get thru the day with your droid?

I came from a blackberry and still have one and although I love alot of the features of the droid, I feel like i dont really get to take advantage of it.

I have all power options turned off and screen on lowest setting, (even though it makes daytime viewing a pain!)

I want to love this phone and all its features but I guess carrying an extra battery is going to have to be a perminent thing??

was looking at the 2600 battery but that thing just looks like it would be ungodly in size

i use my droid pretty heavily emails/text/browsing/few phone calls and i usually get through the day bout 7am-10pm on a charge

well thats not to bad im already planning on bringing along an extra batter once slingbox rolls out , do you have all your power setting off or any battery saving tips?

Um not sure I keep GPS off screen brightness down same things that's been said all over the forums, but I am rooted with 2.2 rom and overclocked with lower voltage kernal so not sure if that affects it or not but coming from a blackberry too they last alot longer on a charge

I think I check facebook 400 times a day. I surf the internet a few times a day. I get emails constantly and make a dozen or so phone calls. I might get down to half charge by 10 at night. I leave wifi and bluetooth on all the time.

What programs do you have running? What does your battery usage look like? If you share more about your usage, people could probably give you some useable suggestions.

Yeah, sadly you don't buy the Droid for its gleaming battery life.

Thats why I own two batteries and a extra charger.

It is totally stupid, I agree. And it frustrates me to no end, but its the price we pay for uber powered devices that are small enough to put in a pocket.

I totally agree, I guess im just gonna have to do the same and just buy some new batteries and a charger , the battieris are pretty thin i can probably fit one in my wallet.

myraid
I just did a factory reset and only have stock apps installed other then pandora and facebook , im starting to think that a new battery might just fix the issue.

thanks for the replies !!

Not sure what you mean. I charge mine on the multimedia dock each night. It makes it through the day no problem (and GPS, BT & WiFi are always on). Screen is set to auto.

You really need to consider your specific usage when assessing battery life issues.

i would recommend going through a whole day using the phone how you want to use it (preffered brightness, etc) and then as your battery wears down, see which apps are bleeding it the most by checking battery use in the setting menu. that way at least you know where to concentrate your power saving efforts.

some basic tips though:
-the auto brightness setting works wonders
-gps can stay on and it only is in use when an app uses it. if you share location with google, make sure you uncheck the "use gps to report location" box.
-if you use wifi, go into advanced wifi settings and make sure that your wifi sleep policy is set to never; this actually improves battery life believe it or not

what i do occationally if i know i won't be able to charge it half way through the day is i will go into setting => applications => manage applications. press the menu buttons and click filter. then select running applications. it will pop up with a list of the apps that are currently running. you can then manually kill apps that you dont want running anymore until you reopen them.

also you could aways update your roaming on your phone. dial *228 then call and when the prompt come on just press 2. it will update and might give you a better connection which can help your battery a bit.
