Haven't seen this tip around here, and it's worked for me twice now.
If your phone is in a bad boot loop (getting stuck, or constantly rebooting during a boot) and you can't get to your lock screen, try booting in to your custom recovery and wiping Cache and Dalvik Cache. Then be patient on the next boot (the phone needs to rebuild it's Dalvik Cache) - and if you're lucky, you've just recovered your phone without losing any data.
If the issue is with an application and your phone crashes shortly after booting, and you don't have time to delete the app, try booting again (and repeating the above steps if it gets locked up again) and removing your SD card (especially if you have a lot of apps on it, this frees up the processor quickly).
Mods: In this section since afaik you need a custom recovery to use it, feel free to move if I'm wrong.
