How to flash Modem without Odin?

Is this possible? My computer will not recognize the phone. I have tried several USB drivers, with no avail. Can a modem be flashed via CWM or Astro? Are there any instructions? The modem I have is .tar and not .zip, which is not recognized in CWM.

I am currently stuck on the dk28 modem and would like to upgrade to the EE03 modem.

Tried flashing the latest Gingerbread Rom, but was unhappy with the speed compared to TrulyEpic V3.0 Froyo Rom. Only problem is, that rom comes loaded with DK28 and I want to upgrade my modem.

Advice? Thank you!

Also, are there instructions on how to update CWM 3.0.0.5 to 3.0.2.5 without Odin? Thanks!

Currently no one has come up with a flashable zip in CWM version for this. I know its been mentioned so someone could be working on it.

As far as your computer not recognizing your phone, try another cable if you have one or consider purchasing a new one cheap (few bucks) off Amazon or something.. Just because you cable charges your phone doesn't mean it will necessarily work for Odin and ADB usage. Quite a few people recently have thought their phone USB or something was bad, then they tried a new cable or different cable and bingo!

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, it would not work.

I opened CWM v3.0.0.5 and did the following:

Install zip from sdcard -> cwm3.0.2.5.zip

--Installing: /sdcard/cwm3.0.2.5.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E: Can't open /sdcard/cwm3.0.2.5.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.

I think it failed because this is not a CWM zip installation...I believe it was made to be installed with Odin. Not sure though

Thanks for the advice. I have tried 5 different USB cables now, all with the same result. I even tried a blackberry data cable.

I would try downloading it again. Don't extract it, just flash it as is in CWM. It was NOT made to flash in Odin.

Thats what I tried to do, it gave the following error:

Yeah, I've tried with 2 different computers now. I wonder why this his happening. Is there any way to flash a modem without Odin?

Someone would need to write a script to flash it in CWM. So far only one that was created was EB13 to EC05 modem update script for CWM.

If you want, I'll give it a try for your remotely. We could do a join.me session. no passwords, just a one-time 6 digit code to get shared and I can try setting it up for you. I've had great success getting odin to work.

Unofficial modems will never have flashable cwm zips. I've only read this, but its my understanding that official ota updates contain a 'modem_delta.bin' file that is necessary to update the modem to a different baseband version. Nothing is impossible, but currently I believe this is.

I don't know if this will help you, but I had trouble using Odin on computers running Windows 7. I tried 2 different computers with no luck. Finally I downloaded Odin with a computer running Windows XP and everything went fine.
