How to get bluetooth password screen again?

I got my G3 back in February - within about a week of getting it, Lollipop came through & I never felt the need to do a factory reset since everything was working fine. But being the curious creature that I am, I've been wondering if anything would be different if I did a FDR, so last week I did one.

Tonight when I tried to pair my heart rate monitor again, instead of double-checking what password I needed to re-pair it with my phone, I stupidly guessed, & of course I guessed wrong. It's not coming up with an option to put in the password again, just asks me Yes/No if I want to retry after it fails.

Does anyone have any idea if there's a way to get the "enter password" option again, without doing another FDR?

Can you just Forget the device in the phone's Bluetooth menu, then try to pair it again?

When you say you guessed the password, do you mean the Bluetooth passcode? That's usually something that's either preset by the Bluetooth device's manufacturer, or something that comes up on the device's screen that you're supposed to match with what's on the phone's screen.

In the Settings>Bluetooth menu, what happens if you long-press the heart monitor entry?

Yes, the Bluetooth passcode. I knew it was something simple & it didn't occur to me that if I put in the wrong numbers, I wouldn't get another shot at it. It's preset as 1234 but I put in 1111 (I knew it was something simple).

Last night I tried long pressing on it while it was attempting to pair, hoping for options or something, but nothing happened at all. It's really weird because it said I'd put in the wrong code, but how can it not give me another shot? I'll post screenshots tonight and maybe you'll see something I'm missing.

Well... tonight I tried pairing again & even took some screenshots to post, and it still didn't work - but then my phone stopped even finding the HRM at all.

I have an old HTC phone I use on wifi only for BOINC, & when I turned on Bluetooth on the HTC phone, my G3 found the HTC & I could have paired them (if I wanted to) - so that shows me it's not my phone. I then used the HTC phone to see if it would find the HRM, & it's not showing up on the HTC phone, either, so it seems like my HRM just suddenly went bad? I looked up my purchase & it's been almost 2 years since I bought it & I use it a lot, so maybe this is a sign... I've been considering a wrist HRM but I didn't think I needed to make a decision quite so soon.

That makes sense--is there any way to do a factory reset of the heart monitor?

No, there doesn't seem to be. It's a Zephyr HXM that's really just a small device that snaps onto a strap. Other than that, the only other hardware is the charger. There are no controls of any kind.

But! Last night I was fiddling with it off & on all night, finally just before heading to bed I thought I'd try again... because I really hate being defeated by stuff like this. It actually showed up on my phone again, AND it miraculously popped up the "enter passcode" screen again so I was able to pair it again, YAY!!

Of course, before trying one last time, I had just ordered an inexpensive HRM (Scosche Rhythm+) - but hopefully the Zephyr will keep working & I'll have a regular & backup. It's been a really great device except that the strap can be a bit inconvenient at times.
