I posted this in another thread but thought I'll post it here too

So just figured out how to legally get free digital magazines to your Android device (or iPhone, or conputers)

Some of you may already know this. But I didn't until today.

- First you need to download the Zinio app

- Then look up your local public library. See if they have agreement with Zinio for digital magazines. I did with my local library through their website and they did! :)

-go to your library and open a library card.

- go back to the library's website and click on link for Zinio magazines. You'll need to then type in the library card #

- you'll also need to register for Zinio which is totally free. Use the same email you used to get your library card

- Then browse what magazines are available and download away. The magazines download to your device and it's yours forever.

- again this is totally Free and Legal.

My library has alot of magazines but only one car magazine, Car and Driver, but alot of others like Newsweek, US weekly, National Geographic, etc

This works. And I've already downloaded 4 magazines :))

Yep, this is a good tip. A bunch of libraries in my area also check out magazines via Zinio.

Yeah many of you may know this already . I just found out. And it is sweet. I got Car and Driver and Road and Track :)

This is what is available through my local library. Of course all of these you get online. Never have to go into the library except to get your library card

One question I can see them. But when I go to read them, I get error, my device doesn't have flash.... Are we able to see the downloaded magazines through the app or how do we view them ?

The problem is that most libraries have subscriptions to exciting publications the likes of Women's Adventure magazine or Yoga journal.

I havent looked into setting any of this up yet but to the ops and others that provided info in here, thank you! I never would have thought about looking into this but my wife will probably love this. She reads books and magazines all the time!

Good question. After you get the Magazine. Don't read it througj Zinio website. Why you need to go to playstore and download the Zinio app. It's free

After you get their app, download the magazines and read it only from their apps.

Yeah not sure why you need flash to read it from their website but not through their app. Hope that helps!

That's somewhat true but you can't argue with free. My library also has ESPN, Road and Track, Car and Driver, and Rolling Stones magazines. I would pay money for those subscriptions.

So no, it's not all Yoga and Women's Health :))

I told my wife her and I are signing up for library cards and going and getting them this weekend. My wife prefers apple products, luckily Zimio (mentioned above and also what our library uses for digital content) is available for our awesome platform as well as her platform. I just need to figure out how to make it work for both of our chosen devices (me = Note 3 and Nexus 7 her = iphone 5 and ipad mini).

It's super easy. The zinio app works for ios and Android platforms.

If you choose you can read the magazines on pc or Mac laptops/desktops too. Just gotta find what best suits your reading needs. IPad mini, Note 3, and Nexus 7 are great platforms to read from

It'll probably get put on the Nexus 7 and iPad Mini. For those that have used the app can it be set up to automatically download/sync magazines so it can grab them while on the charger so we can both grab our devices on the run and if we get a stopping point the selected magazines are there and ready to go?

Yes. There's an option through settings to automatically download new magazines when it's available. But that option is only for wifi download only. I sometimes download through 4G on note 3

I never read magazines without coffee. Where can I download the free coffee shop coupons?

You've only completed half the deal.

LOL :-)
