How to get notifications to flash on lock screen?

I just moved from a Moto G4 to the LG V30 that I picked up yesterday.

Really enjoying the phone so far but one thing keeps bothering me and I'm hoping it's just a setup issue that you can all help me with.

On my Moto G4 when I received a notification it would flash it on the lock screen for a few seconds and then turn the display off. The Moto didn't have an "always on" screen but would instead flash the lock screen every minute or so unless a notification came in which case it was immediate.

On the V30 if I receive a notification I get a vibrate signal from the phone but nothing else. I even tried to "always on" option and still don't see the actual notification on the screen unless I double-tap the phone.

Is there a way to enable functionality similar to what I had on my previous phone? It's really convenient to hear a notification coming through and glance at it without touching anything.

Having just left AT&T after 10 years, I can say that I have never seen that feature build in with any LG Android product. Do any of the regulars have a 3rd party solution?

Oh no! First I had to learn to live without my flashing LED light when moving from Blackberry to smartphones and now I won't have my at-a-glance notifications?!?

I don't have the V30 yet, but I use an app called NILS on my V20 to accomplish this.

I downloaded and just tested it and was able to get my convenience back that I had started to miss.

Thank you krisguy for making me think outside of the current configuration and go to to Play store.

Interesting to know there's an option.... after having this phone for a while now, I am really liking the AOD and have got used to noticing when the icon bar changes with notifications. I think that's fine for me.

Are you saying that the notification icon does not appear on the lock screen in "always on" mode?
Which app is the notification for?

The icon will appear but the notification itself wasn't showing. After installing the app I mentioned above though the phone is functioning exactly how I want it to.
