How to have notifications appear in status bar only?

I'm on Oreo with the Pixel, which I just got recently. I had it set up on my old phone where there were no pop-up nor push notifications. I hated it when a pop-up would appear while browsing or watching a video.

The only notifications I would like to have are the ones that appear in the status bar where the time and battery usage are located. How can I set this up again?

You will need a PC and ADB set up on both the phone and PC.
