How to hide these apps

When I press the 3 lines to see the previous apps I was looking at on the bottom it shows 4 or 5 apps. Before I upgraded to Pie this never happened on Oreo. I would like to for those apps not to show up. How can I hide them?

hey... yeah new stuff.
go to the recent apps button.
even opened you'll see thor recent apps used. look to the top at finder search and press 3 vertical dot menu... settings suggested apps: turn off!
