How to hold the Nexus 7 in landscape orientation?

Everytime I hold the Nexus 7 in landscape mode my fingers keep covering the back speakers.Is it a design flaw in the nexus or something?

It would be nice if the speakers were on the front, but I wouldn't call it a design flaw. I generally have my fingers curved, with the tablet resting on my fingertips, and the end of the tablet resting on my palm, which sort of cups my hand around the speakers, which actually helps to reflect the speaker sound toward me.

Don't think there's much you can do about that.

Coming from an iPad its a little weird to hold the tablet.lol and for some reason the audio loudness increases when my fingers are cupped around the speakers which wasnt the case with ipad

I hold it very carefully with one to two hands. The speakers are loud, clear and could have been placed front facing N10 or One style.

Agree with cupping the hands when holding it. This actually enhances the sound by reflecting the sound waves forward.
