How to install drivers?

I just connected my phone to my computer, HTC Sync downloads, but then I see nothing about the drivers being installed. Is there a way I can install them manually, and if so how can I check that they're installed properly? I'm trying to S-Off and unlock but my phone isn't communicating with my computer. Thanks!
