How to keep an app running

Has anybody stumbled acroos an app or rom mod that will allow certain apps to perform as a service. For example I have a remote desktop app, that I use to stream audio and video from my laptop to my droid x, but when I exit out of the screen the audio cuts out and I have to restart the app. Would be nice to have the app run in the back ground.


Any ideas?

Almost positive this is a limitation to the phones itself. Don't think this can be fixed for awhile, until phones start seeing dual core 2ghz, 1gb ram and up because right now these devices don't have enough processing power to multitask as good as say a PC or laptop can.
