Hello everyone,
I lost access to my previous Android phone some time ago and, for several reasons, couldn’t restore its WhatsApp backup to a new device. I eventually started a new WhatsApp instance on another phone using the same phone number.
Now I’ve regained access to my old phone, which still contains important WhatsApp messages stored locally. I don’t want to restore or merge them with the new account — I just need to regularly view and access that old message history, either directly on the old phone (offline) or through a computer backup.
Before connecting the old phone to the internet (to prevent WhatsApp from overwriting or locking the local data), what are the correct steps to:
1. Keep the old database intact, and
2. Make it viewable long-term — either on the device itself or on a PC?
Any advice on safe methods or recommended tools would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
