How to Kill GB Update Download???

Okay, so I saw that the GB update was available, did the manual check on Atrix, and connected to WiFi -- download began. Luckily, it hung @ 35%, because as I read further on the forum threads, VERY FEW users had anything good to say about it. So I turned off WiFi, powered down, even removed battery in hopes of aborting the download process.

After rebooting, it tells me that the download in progress will resume once I connect to WiFi. But I don't want the update now. Any way to kill it for good?

Many thanks for any insights.

Well, I got the official reply from Motorola. There is no way to stop the download once it's started (other than avoiding WiFi for as long as possible).

Oh -- and a few things learned while searching for an answer -- the loss of music is limited to the DRM-protected material on the phone's internal storage, not the SD card. So if your SD card has enough room, move it over there. I've backed up my phone-resident music, and will replace it when the dreaded upgrade download is completed.

My reason for wanting to halt the download: Lots of chatter & anticipation of GB on Atrix, so when I was doing one of my period manual checks from the phone, and was told it was available, I naturally clicked "Yes." Well, as the download began, I started reading the forum posts about what a nightmare it can be & decided this was not an upgrade worth installing. Too late!

Lesson learned: Read the forums first, then download.

So...how long do I avoid a WiFi connection? :-\
