how to make android file transfer work for my note 5

hello all

i have a gold titanium 32 gb note 5 which i just cannot seem to connect to my mac using AFT. it just says "try reconnecting your device" at every try. i do not have kies or any samsung software installed on my macbook pro. this was the case with my s6 edge also. however all other non sammy devices connect fine. what am doing wrong here? FYI, i am running yosemite 10.10.5 on mac.

For me, AFT worked pretty well on Maverick, then started misbehaving some on Yosemite and went back to working pretty well on El Capitan. Any time I ever had connection issues, a restart of the Mac while the phone was still connected by usb usually corrected the problem. You may also try a different usb cable if you have a spare.
