Hi all,
I know Android lets me customise the font size as well as the type. But is there a way to make the fonts "Bold"?
I am specifically looking for ways to increase the thickness of individual letters.
It's a little urgent, as I am looking for get a new phone for my mother who has difficulties with her vision. She feels more comfortable reading darker and thicker font.
I haven't made any headway and would much appreciate any tips.
Thanks in advance!

Which phones are you talking about? Only certain phones have a native way of changing the font (Samsung, LG, and to a certain extent HTC). You can do more by rooting, but I don't know the details.

Well, as far as I know, increasing the font size is all you can do without root.

If you have root, a couple things you can do.

1/ Increase the DPI. This makes EVERYTHING bigger. Font, icons, graphics. Use DPI changer app on play store.

2/ replace the system font. The font most used throughout android is Roboto-Regular. Use font changer app on play store to replace it with a bolder font.

I've done both with my tablet. You can see what it looks like in screenshot.

I did not make the font bold, I just use helvetica which I like better, but you can substitute a bolder font. You can see here Tapatalk using Helvetica instead of roboto

I usually use this, just spray roughly 3-5' away from your phone and you should see fonts thicken and darken within a couple of weeks!
