How to make World phone

I'm buying this device for my mother, as her iphone3g crapped out.

What would I have to do to make this a world phone?

Would I need to root and install a custom rom?

Any help would be appreciated.

it already is ;-) call att and have them give you the unlock code.

It might take a month since its a new phone though. you can also pay for the unlock code from multiple websites.

thanks. I'll call them up and see what possible options they give me.

Also I'd rather root then have to pay someone to give me an unlock code. Hopefully best case scenario ATT has an immediate update code or can provide one within month. Anything longer and I'm rooting.

Figure I will need to root at some point any way just to rid ATT's crapware. Hopefully proper 2.2 custom roms get released for this device.

let us know if AT&T will unlock it. I have never heard of them being as nice as T-Mo.

Well even if they don't, I will still root it and see what options are available, but yeah I'll surely check in and keep this thread udpated.
